Westlink M7 Shared Path Improvement Works

An extensive, rolling program of staged drainage and resurfacing works commenced at various locations along the Westlink M7 shared path in August 2010.

The works program consists of up to three, separate stages including: drainage works, concrete works and asphalting. To minimise the impact on the local community and users of the path, the work will be rolled out at different areas at different times. The entire program will be completed within approximately 12 months.

The shared path does not need to be closed for the drainage works. Suitable signage and traffic management procedures are in place and users are asked to carefully pass any work they may encounter along the path and follow any instructions given by the workers.

To ensure the safety of cyclists and pedestrians and to allow the resurfacing works to be carried out, each work area will be closed to the public while the two stages of resurfacing work are undertaken. The resurfacing work includes both the concrete and asphalting stages. These stages will be carried out at separate times with the path scheduled to be reopened between stages.

Detour routes have been developed. Path users will be diverted generally through local streets and other shared paths with appropriate signage and maps in place to direct users.

Details of the closures and detours will be available on the WestlinkM7 website www.westlinkm7.com.au ahead of closures.

The work is being undertaken by contractor Abigroup Leighton Joint Venture (ALJV).

The constructors and Westlink M7 appreciate the cooperation and patience of all shared path users while these improvement works are undertaken to help ensure this popular and valued local asset is in good condition for the community's long term use.
