The 12 month program of upgrade works to the Westlink M7 shared path is reaching the final asphalting phase. For areas which are currently closed for concrete work (refer link to Maps of Shared Path Detours for details), the constructors, Abigroup Leighton Joint Venture (ALJV), are aiming to include asphalting in the current closures. Elsewhere the final rolling program of closures for asphalting will begin shortly. This series of closures will be for shorter lengths of time and the aim is to complete all works by mid year.

The closed areas where no suitable detours are in place, due to the lack of any pedestrian or cycle paths of similar standard, include between:

• Great Western Highway and Old Wallgrove Road, Eastern Creek - closed until 8 March 2011;
• Old Wallgrove Road and The Horsley Drive, Horsley Park - closed until end April 2011; and
• Bernera Road and Kurrajong Road, Prestons - closed until end March 2011.

Completion dates are weather permitting.
